The end of this month is very important for all NYC DOE employees currently on unpaid leave. Many of you are reaching out and asking extremely valid questions. I do not have all of the answers. I am working on getting as many of the answers as I can while I hustle and struggle to keep myself and my family afloat (just as we all are right now).
We all have tough decisions to make ahead of us as the end of October is a deadline that the NYC DOE is imposing upon us. Personally I know, for sure, I am not getting the covid vaccine and I am not resigning or retiring. Over this weekend I will have more information to answer as many questions as I can but don’t count on me having every answer to every question. There is only so much I can get done.
Certainly, Michael.
No problem.
I appreciate you taking the movement up on your shoulders.
Stay strong.

Thank you for all you are doing. We appreciate you!!! Thank you to Sujata as well!! I am standing strong with the you! I appreciate the info you’re giving as I am definitely NOT resigning or taking the vaccine either. I put in for religious exemption and like u was initially denied with a reason that had nothing to do with my religious beliefs and then denied the appeal without a hearing… Last year I went into the building faithfully, got Covid, beat it, AND now have the antibodies- but the SCIENCE is not good enough for the politics! Terrible! #HoldTheLine. Thank you Michael!!

Hi Michael, I know you have mentioned in your letter that you cannot give legal advice and you have consulted your lawyer before sending the letter the chancellor.
I am just at a lose. I want to stand front and not sign but I don’t have a lawsuit like you do to make me feel protected. If nothing is changed from now to December 1st, will you be requesting compensation in your lawsuit?
Once I find a job, I am not planning on returning to the DOE, I am honestly disgusted. I am just torn on what to do, because I want it to be worth it if I am struggling and exposing my family to no medical insurance.
Any suggestions? Ayellet Moas

I understand your frustration and feel your pain. A few comments
1) KANE vs DE BLASIO may end up applying to EVERYONE “SIMILARLY SITUATED” to me and the plaintiffs in our case. If you were denied an exemption there is a chance you will get relief from our case as well. No guarantees.
2) We are not seeking any financial compensation in KANE vs DE BLASIO at this time. That is for a future discussion. First we want to set a particular precedent in court.
3) STAY TUNED to our website. More announcements are coming next week

Sighing. Yes, I am in a similar situation. However, I had to go out w PTSD the Wednesday before the unpaid leave took place because of the forced vaccine. I care for my 80 old mom and we cannot pay the rent. I have no income now. I am at a loss as to how to protect myself and stay in the fight legally with lawsuits. Trying to stay on top of things but worried I am not.

I am so sorry for your struggle. I have my struggles as well. Your family and your health right now comes first. You make the decisions that work for you and your family. All the best and God Bless.
