June 7, 2023
Dear Albany Lawmakers;
TEACHERS FOR CHOICE represents thousands of educators across NY State who are opposed to medical mandates, especially to maintain employment
This year there are 3 bills we are opposed to that are being considered to become law in these last 3 days of the Albany legislative session. Those bills are:
A7154 (McDonald-D) S1531(Hoylman-D) Mandatory Adult Database bill
A276b (Paulin-D) S762a (Krueger-D) Minor Consent to Vaccination bill
A837 (Dinowitz-D) S1946(Hoylman-D) Medical Exemption Reporting bill
These bills should not be rushed through the process to become law with no opportunity for public comment. Shutting the public out of the democratic process and pushing medical legislation through rapidly in the final days of the legislative session is not in the best interests of New Yorkers. If these bills are so fantastic they can easily withstand the light of day in a public comment period and open debate prior to being voted on. In the case of A7154 the Assembly has already made it too late for a proper public comment period by passing it on the floor on June 1st.
TEACHERS FOR CHOICE asks that this mistake not be made again on any of the aforementioned bills in either House.
Sincerely;
Michael Kane
