Why Do Teacher Union Leaders Want More Remote Learning?

11-7-2020

As early as 2015, the heads of the largest teacher unions in America were already onboard with the “reimagine education” remote learning initiative which Governor Cuomo announced he was rolling out in the midst of the COVID crisis. This includes Randi Weingarten of the American Federation of Teachers (AFT) as well as Becky Pringle of the National Educators Association (NEA). Both of these powerful women are members of the Education Reimagined Policy Board.

COVID was just the catalyst. Remote learning in NY is not going away.

This is a new era of education inequity. The rich will have in-person education in learning pods and private schools while the poor in large cities will have remote learning where children will be turned into data on dashboards used by capitalist investors to extract value for private gains.

This comes from education activist and mom Alison McDowell. She has documented all of this as early as 3 to 5 years ago. In a 2017 lecture she predicted that the agenda for education was to close brick & mortar schools. Back then no one believed her. Now, in the post-COVID world, no one can afford not to believe her as her research is impeccable. Watch that presentation for yourself (go to the 23 minute mark for reference to reimagine education and teacher unions).

“Blended Learning is the charter-ising of our schools from within,” said McDowell back in 2017. In New York City we are currently using a blended learning model in response to the COVID crisis. McDowell presents a slide in her presentation from Cabarrus County Schools, North Carolina, that implemented blended learning back in 2014:

Starting in 2014, the district (Cabarrus County Schools) identified the best high school and middle school teachers, doubled the amount of students those educators teach, cut the in-person time with these students in half and paid the teachers more to reach more kids and get the same results.” page 13, “Making Blended Work”

“This is the end game,” says McDowell:

AFT President Randi Weingarten is now on Governor Cuomo’s “reimagine education” panel which also includes members of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. The entire focus is how to “reimagine” education at a distance without brick & mortar school buildings.

  1. Michael,

Can’t thank you enough for all your work and correspondence, shining the light on so much ignorant, offensive stuff that is in the works. And, I can’t help but note that it is part of a greater international Technocratic scheme, with dystopian implications for humanity, and Americans in power being incentivized to abandon our constitutional principles.

In the midst of grad school and work commitments, but plan to catch up and get more active asap.

    Best Always, Anthony
