As Columbia Presbyterian Hospital moves to force inject its healthcare workers with the COVID shot, organized labor says NO!
Look at this quote from 1199 President George Gresham in Gothamist:
“Whether there is a legal challenge that we can make, or whether it’s just a pure organizational challenge that we can make, we are not going to just give in,” George Gresham, president of 1199SEIU, told WNYC/Gothamist.
1199 is the most powerful union in New York State. They had released an official position against mandating their employees to get the COVID shot months ago, and we reported on that back on January 23, 2021.
It is great to see organized labor stand up strong for the fundamental rights of the membership that pays their salaries. We are sure all union bosses all across the state and country are taking note of the historic stand taken by 1199 today!
