NEA Forced Vaccination Resolution Overwhelmingly Defeated!

The NEW BUSINESS ITEM #33 at the National Education Association’s (NEA) virtual assembly, which called for forced covid testing and vaccination of all students and staff to reopen schools in September, was overwhelmingly defeated today. One post on twitter said 81% of the delegates voted no, which is fantastic!

In this post, I will not be posting any analysis on why the resolution was defeated as there are many factors to consider and I did not see the floor debate nor read any reporting on it.

Thank you to everyone who emailed Andy Pollatta, Randi Weingarten and Michael Mulgrew today. From those exchanges Ms. Weingarten replied back to me, and to many of you, explaining she is not an NEA delegate. She also stated that AFT has already passed a resolution on vaccination where they strongly support and encourage it but do not recommend mandates. I asked her if she could direct me to the resolution and she said she would do so as soon as possible. It was a very professional and appreciated exchange.
